Electric Heat Pump the Electricity Saver

electric heat pump
North Western Power & Conservation Council recognizes Electric Heat Pump as a vital device of saving electricity in homes; or in other words it is an electric saver. In this article, we are going to learn how a heat pump works as well as the total of electricity it consumes.

A heat pump moves heat from one place to another. They are mostly used to pull out heat from the ground or absorb from the air to heat a home or office or even pools. They use a minimum amount of electricity for this purpose. These pumps are used not only for heating purposes but also as a cooling device.

  • How the Electric heat pump works

The electric heat pump has a refrigerant system and a compressor that absorbs heat from one place and passes on to another place. It can work reversely also.

It is considered to be a unique gadget because it can perform the functions of both- an air-conditioner and a furnace. So it is economical also. There is no need to install a heater and a cooler separately.

The electric heat pump works extremely well and efficiently as it does the work of simply transferring heat and does not burn any fuel to create it. Hence it is extensively used in homes as it keeps the environment free from pollution. In moderate climate it works the best. By saving electricity it saves money also.

  • Difference with other heaters

Electric powered heat pumps which work somewhat like a reversed Refrigerator use electricity for heating the homes not in the ways that the resistance heaters use it.  It does not change electricity into heat, rather moves the heat from one place to the other. Thus it proves its efficiency. In a heat pump, 1kW hour of electricity produces 2 to 3kW hours of usable heat.

If the heat pump is powered by electricity that is not generated from fossil fuel, then it can be absolutely green house gas neutral.

  • Points to note

When buying the electric heat pump keep note that you verify the materials used in the device, the company’s reputation, warranties provided, the monthly costin, heat pump prices and the durability. The purchase of an Electric Heat Pump is an intelligent buy.
